HRYRA IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE WILL BE HOSTING DAVE PERRY, sailor extraordinaire to speak on Tuesday March 18th from 7-10 PM at the Stony Point Conference Center in Stony Point (near Haverstraw). Dave will use these 3 hrs. to discuss something that we all could work on...

Always a popular speaker for the HRYRA, Dave will be starting off with an excerpt of his presentation on the 34th America’s Cup, featuring what is being called the greatest comeback in sports.

Dave was the rules advisor for Artemis Racing, the Swedish Challenger of Record for the 2013 America's Cup. In a nutshell, and with video and photos, Dave will bring us up to speed on the story of the 34th America’s Cup, featuring Oracle Team USA's miraculous comeback from 8-1 down to beat Emirates Team New Zealand 9-8. He will discuss how OTUSA did it, how ETNZ built an 8-1 lead, and he'll take us behind the scenes on many of the controversial issues in this Cup, including the OTUSA cheating scandal, the rules controversy that led to foiling, and the tragic passing of Andrew "Bart" Simpson, a beloved member of the Artemis Racing team. Finally, Dave will bring us up to speed on what is happening for the 35th America's Cup.

Dave will then present his popular Tactics in Crowds, which is an advanced look at tactical positioning at the start and the leeward mark/gate, with an analysis of the applicable rules and decision making process in each. Dave will then show spectacular video shots illustrating his points. Dave's presentations are always humorous, engaging, and loaded with tips for skippers and crews of all levels and types of boats. Dave will also have copies of his three books available for sale and signing.

If you haven't seen Dave in action, he is a very engaging and entertaining speaker and first class teacher.

"Tactics in a Crowd" - an advanced and humorous look at tactical positioning at key areas around the race course, with an analysis of the applicable rules and decision making process in each. Dave will also spend 15-20 min at the beginning of the seminar to talk about the 34th America's Cup (with slideshow).
